Sacramental Preparation

There are seven Sacraments in Catholic Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, Matrimony.
In the Diocese of Leeds, the Sacraments of Initiation (Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation) are celebrated for children during their years of primary education:
- Reconciliation in Year 3 (Ages seven and eight)
- Holy Communion in Year 4 (Ages eight and nine)
- Confirmation in the first part of Year 6 (Ages ten and eleven).
Sacramental preparation is shared in our parish with the children of St. Clare's and Father Paul Redmond.

Preparation for the children receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion (Eucharist)

This letter explains when our children receive the First Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. Our school supports parish catechists in delivering sessions on the Sacraments. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to live out your faith with your child.
Year 3
Preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The enrolment in the parish/school sacramental programme should take place at the beginning of Autumn term.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be celebrated in Lent during Spring term.
Year 4
Preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion which will be after Easter with the sacrament celebrated in the Summer term.
Year 5
Preparation for Sacrament of Confirmation
Year 6
The preparation will continue an the Sacrament of Confirmation which will be celebrated in Autumn term.
The Diocese has recently produced resources for families to help in the sacramental preparation for their children. We are working together with the parish and our families with the following resources for our children;

Adults wishing to become a Catholic, can join the path of formation into the Catholic Faith to receive all of the Sacraments of Initiation to be in full communion with the Cathoic Church.
This can be done through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA): this is a journey of preparation leading to a celebration which takes place usually at the Easter Vigil. For further information, please click here for further information:
