Year 4 - St. Oscar Romero Class
Mr Lancewicz teaches the pupils in Year 4 supported by Mrs Tillotson.
This term in year 4 we will be intrepid explorers as we learn about the amazing country of Brazil. We will be developing our maps skills to improve our geographical knowledge of South America. In addition, we will be learning about the mighty Amazon River and the indigenous tribes that live next to it. Our English focus is closely linked to our exciting topic as we develop our understanding of writing interesting and informative non-chronological reports. Furthermore, to develop our reading comprehension skills we will be studying Philip Pullman’s The Firework Maker’s Daughter.
In Maths we are focusing on fractions, decimals and money related problems. In particular, we will be working hard to master equivalent fractions, adding and subtracting fractions where the denominator is the same and comparing and ordering decimals. This term year 4 are looking forward to developing their mathematical reasoning skills and challenging themselves when tackling tricky maths investigations!
In R.E we are continuing to develop our understanding of Jesus the Teacher. We are also enjoying our daily meditation sessions as they are helping the children to remain calm and enjoy their learning time.
