Access to the Full Curriculum

We believe that the children in our school should have access to a broad and balanced curriculum. Hand washing, staggered starts, lunches and finish times have meant that the school day is very different, yet we have endeavoured to ensure that the full curriculum coverage will be possible throughout the course of the year.  This may mean that some subjects are not taught in one term, but then more of that subject is taught in the next term.  This has allowed our teachers to have a clear focus, during school reopening, on the mental health and well-being of all of our pupils.  It has also allowed for us to ensure that children have a good level of emotional literacy and are 'Learning Ready!'

This has created many challenges for teachers and school leaders, but we are committed to ensuring that your children will experience every subject across the school year. Teachers have used the time in 'Lockdown' to plan a brand new bespoke curriculum for our learners delivering exciting lessons across all subjects.   Please take some time to look at our EVE Project @OLSB to fully appreciate the level of expertise that we have on our teaching staff that has resulted in a great curriculum that is rooted in vocation, ambition, oracy and outdoor learning.
