Friday 12th May:St Brendan's Day
We had a very special day in school to celebrate the feast of St Brendan. Father Stephen said mass for us this morning and the readings and bidding prayers were led by Year 5. This was followed by a family picnic and fun activities in the afternoon which included zumba, Forest Schools, a rounders tournament and art and crafts. Thank you to those familes and governors who joined us for some or all of the day
Congratulations to Suzanne Cunliffe for her winning entry in the Book Fair poetry competition:
A Mother's Dream Morning
I wake up each morning my alarm in my ear,
I must get up and get my act into gear.
My children still sleeping and snoozing in bed,
They need to get dressed and downstairs to be fed.
They're both very tired and still a bit hazy,
I say 'Now is so not the time to be lazy.'
'It's the first day back at school today,
Your friends will be waiting to see you and play.'
And as I stood their amazed, dazed and shocked,
My boys started putting on their uniforms and socks.
They happily went and got ready and dressed,
I must admit, I was really impressed.
There was no moaning or groaning or stomping of feet,
I thought to myself, this is such a nice treat.
And in no time at all we were all on our way,
What a brilliant start to this very fine day.
But as the fog began to lift from my head,
Reality struck and filled me with dread.
'Oh no, oh no' things aren't what they seem,
As I woke up this morning from the loveliest dream!
